About Us
Maxie's opened its doors on May 5th, 2007, serving Southern-inspired “from-scratch” cooking. Maxie's is located in the old Vespalec family grocery store and Gerry O'Brien's Meat Market at the corner of 68th Street and Fairview Avenue, immediately north of I-94 and the 68th Street off-ramp. Maxie's offers full-service bars and dining on two levels.
Maxie's Southern inspiration includes the “Low Country” cooking of the Carolinas, Creole and Cajun cooking of Louisiana, traditional slow-smoked Southern barbeque, and Southern comfort cooking of all kinds. We feature a raw bar serving fresh oysters and shrimp flown in 5 days a week from some of the best fish purveyors on the east coast. Our bar offers a hand picked selection of quality wines, micro-brewed and imported beers, and top-shelf liquors. Maxie's serves from a whiskey list of 125 selections, including rare and ultra-premium bourbons and ryes. Maxie's features Milwaukee's Happiest Happy Hour from 4-6 p.m. with $1 fresh-shucked oysters, $9 appetizers, and Buck Off! beer, wine, and cocktails.

Maxie's professional, organized team throws fun parties with delicious food. We can create a menu and event to suit your needs.
We create semi-private and fully private dining spaces in our upstairs dining room so your group can enjoy the evening without missing out on the party.

This place is LEGIT! Honestly some of the BEST comfort food I've ever had in my life! Everything from the catfish to the fried chicken was amazing but make sure to grab some fresh shucked oysters, the only place that comes close to those is New Orleans! Oh yeah and those red beans and rice are to die for.

DELICIOUS! The best New Orleans inspired food ever. Start you meal with a tart but sweet Hurricane to drink. My family LOVES the chicken wings and gumbo as appetizers. For the main course its almost impossible to choose because everything is fantastic, you cannot go wrong. The dessert never disappoints and fills in the cracks. In love with Maxie's and would recommend to anyone.

We came to Maxies to celebrate a birthday and had a terrific experience. We ordered the gumbo, hickory smoked wings, fish fry, chicken po'boy, Mac and cheese, and key lime pie. The wings are amazing! Perfect flavor and breading, and they're huge! Actually....it's all huge...the portion sizes are immense...

I recently had my wedding here and everything went perfectly. Dan had everything set up exactly how we needed it. The staff was extremely courteous and professional and everyone loved the food. The jambalaya is very spicy, in other words perfect. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. We'll definitely be coming back.
